Kfar Saba municipality leads a vision of zero waste to landfill. As part of this vision, we initiate and implement multiple pilots and innovative programs to enhance waste separation and waste treatment, and encourage city residents to lead a more sustainable lifestyle. We work to drive responsible policies and regulation, while strengthening ties to the community and education system.

Our vision

We aim to promote a beneficent living environment for the residents of the city now and in the future. The connection between sustainability and innovation enables a wide perspective of the sum of challenges the city faces within a rapidly changing reality, and better preparing ourselves towards them.

What we do

Our activity focuses on promotion of responsible municipal policy in the fields of waste, energy, transportation and more, on strengthening engagement and environmental responsibility amongst city residents, on developing and executing innovative pilot projects along with in depth processes in education, community and the municipality itself.

Some examples of our activity

  • Kipod - municipal sustainability center, leading as demonstration and education site for citizens and fellow authorities in the field of zero waste living.
  • Municipal waste management towards a Zero waste city – leading as “urban lab”, enabling exploration of various pilots aimed to reduce amounts of waste landfilled; Installation of control systems to measure and weigh household waste, large scale recycling initiative to increase organic waste separation through municipally funded installation of garbage grinders at private residence, innovative pilot for urban circular economy in used textiles, exploring recycling of urban gardening waste into medical grade Ethanol in collaboration with TAU, and more.
  • Sustainable construction demonstration site – call for proposal for start-ups, commercial bodies, planners, designers and constructors to take part in creating the future offices for the Sustainability department to perform as urban lab and demo site for sustainable construction solutions
